STEP BY STEP

How to install RAINPOD

Choose your water butt location

Locate and position your water butt in its ideal spot. If using multiple water butts, make sure the tops of each one are at the same level.

Mark the water level height

Mark approx. 25mm below the top of your water butt — this is the maximum level water will reach across all connected butts. Want more capacity? Reduce the height a little; 25mm is a good all-rounder.

Get the levels correct

Using a laser level, match the mark on the water butt across to the downpipe where your pod will be installed. No laser? On a brick house you can follow the brick line, or fill a length of hosepipe with water and match levels that way.

Mark the pipe and the wall

Mark the downpipe and the wall next to it where you can see the laser level line.

Measure and mark the cut lines

Mark 90mm directly above the pipe mark line (first cut). From that mark, measure 910mm downwards and mark again (second cut). These two marks are where you'll cut your downpipe.

Place the pod into your downpipe

Now that you've cut your downpipe, place the overflow at the bottom of your pod into the bottom section of downpipe.

Match the wall mark to the water line

Your pod has a built-in water line. Hold it against the wall so the line matches your mark, keep it in place, and pencil-mark the top right screw hole. Remove the pod, drill a 7mm hole and insert the plug provided.

Temporarily attach your pod

Sit the pod's base in your downpipe and loosely fix the top right screw — no need to over-tighten. Place a spirit level on top of the pod, level it up, mark the second screw hole, then remove, drill and plug.

Final fix and connect your water butts

Attach the pod on the top two screws, mark the bottom two holes, remove, drill and plug. Fix the pod permanently — don't over-tighten. Add both taps provided, fit the multi-hose tail or fast-fit connector, connect your hose, and wait for the rain.
