How to install a water butt connection kit
Step by step installation guide
01
Pick Your Water Butt Spot
Find the best place for your water butt and put it there. If you're using more than one, just make sure all their tops are at the same level.
02
Remove water butt taps
Simply remove all the taps from your water butts.
Quick Tip: Want to keep your taps? You can still use our kits! Just drill a 25mm hole in the bottom of your water butt. If you do this, ask for our "straight connectors" instead of the fast flow bends that come with the kit.
You can tell us in the checkout notes or email us at info@save-rainwater.co.uk.
03
Connect fast flow bends
Connect the fast-flow bends to your water butts.
Make sure the seal stays on the outside, then tighten the nuts on the back of the bends.
Don't overtighten, just make it snug.
04
Lay down your hose
Unroll your hose from your farthest water butt all the way to your Rainpod.
Keep it flat on the ground and make sure there are no twists or kinks. The hose needs to be below the water butt's base. You can't run the hose over fences.
You'll need to dig a hole or drill through the fence instead. Don't coil up any extra hose; cut it off to prevent air pockets. Once the hose is in place, cut it to size.
Any leftover hose can be used for connecting to your water butts and T-connectors later.
05
Connect furthest water butt
Start by connecting the water butt that's furthest away, and secure it with a jubilee clip.
Then, move the rest of your hose roughly into its final position.
06
Cut hose on closest water butt
Now that your hose is laid out flat without extra length, cut it directly under the first water butt (the one closest to your Rainpod).
After cutting your downpipe, put the overflow part at the bottom of your Rainpod, in the bottom downpipe.
07
Connecting to the fast flow bends
Cut a small piece of hose that goes from the bent connector straight down to the floor.
Once cut, attach it to the bent connector and secure it tightly with a jubilee clip.
Do this for all your water butts.
08
Connect hose to T connectors
Simply push all the hose ends onto your T-connectors and use the jubilee clips to make sure they're completely watertight.
Repeat this for all your water butts.
09
Final stage & connecting to your pod
Attach the blue jumbo connector to the end of your hose.
Pull back the blue sleeve, push it on firmly until you hear a good click. With that last connection made, you're all set!
Now, just relax and wait for the rain...
